About KCO
We're celebrating our 75th birthday in 2011! Kensington
Chamber Orchestra was established in 1936 as
the Informal Chamber Orchestra, and is a registered charity, funded by
members' subscriptions and ticket sales, and from time to time also
raises money for other charitable causes.
We provide opportunities for musicians to rehearse and
perform a wide range of classical music to a high standard. We also
offer a platform for young soloists to help them establish their
careers, and guest-slots to provide young conductors with valuable
experience.
Our focus is on serious amateur music making in a
sociable and friendly environment.
Many of the orchestra's players are keen chamber
musicians, and a number make an annual trip to Prussia Cove, home of
the International Musicians Seminar near Penzance, providing an
opportunity to play chamber music in a relaxing and beautiful
environment.
